What is Homeopathy?
The word homeopathy comes from the Greek words homoeo meaning similar and pathos meaning suffering; the classical spelling of the word is homoeopathy, but this is less widely used today.
Homeopathy, as a science and art, was founded in Germany by Samuel Hahnemann at the end of the 18th Century. It follows the "Law of Similars": a substance that would produce certain symptoms in a healthy individual can be used to cure those same symptoms in a sick individual, "Like Cures Like".
Homeopathic remedies are made from plants, minerals and other natural substances and are used in a highly diluted form. They do not have side effects and can be safely used by young children, the elderly, pregnant and breastfeeding women.
