What happens at the first consultation?What happens at the follow up consultation?What will be the duration of my treatment?What happens at the first consultation?The initial consultation generally lasts from 1 to 2hrs. We will talk about the complaint that you have come to see me about, in particular:
the sensation;
the location;
any other unrelated symptoms you get;
what makes it better or worse for you;
how long you have had this particular complaint;
anything you think might have caused the problem.
I will then ask you questions to find out more about who you are: your food preferences, your reaction to temperature, your likes and dislikes generally. A lot of the questions may seem irrelevant to your particular complaint, but are important for me to understand more about you as an individual; homeopathy is a holistic therapy, treating the whole person, not just the particular complaint.
After a full case history has been taken, including past medical history and family medical history, I will decide on a remedy that is appropriate for you.
What happens at the follow up consultation?
Follow up consultations will usually be arranged for 4-6 weeks after the initial consultation. This appointment will be a lot shorter, usually lasting from 30 minutes to an hour; there is not as much information to gather at this visit compared to the initial consultation. We will talk about your reactions to the remedy prescribed and how you are feeling now. Questions will be concerned with the complaint you came to see me about and your current sense of well-being.
What will be the duration of my treatment?
Every case is different. You may have had a complaint for several months or for many years. Generally a problem that has existed for many years and has been kept under control by medication is likely to take longer to resolve.
